My New Addition !

Well....Nitrites were virtualy non-existent and I couldn't wait any longer so I went out and bought two Red Dwarf Gourami's. This is one of them. The other decided to start swimming to the front of the tank once the batteries in my camera had run out !!
I love them !!! They have not shown any signs of nervousness and have settled in lovely. Just hoping Nitrites stay down.

great looking fish these just be carefull if you have 2 males as you may get 1 dominant fish and 1 that hides.... it may even turn black with stress keep an eye on them, it might not happen overnight. i had 3 and ended up rehoming 2 due to this.... shame as they are nice looking fish

Thank you for the advice. I appreciate i'm taking a huge risk but have gone into it with my eyes open....i think. Have been watching the pair in my LFS for 3wks. Was quite happy to see that when I was there they were always together and never seemed to be apart. Have been together in the tank too. I checked them over before I bought them for signs of nipping etc but they are both clear. I'll take each day as it comes and keep my fingers crossed. I'm hoping that as there are a lot of plants and places to hide that it may be ok. Time will tell.

Great stuff! Pretty little fish

Have you got any other additions? The sooner you add them the better as there will be plently of bacteria left over that you should take advantage of

Was so nervous about adding these as my Nitrite wasn't quite zero but in hindsight you are right....need to keep the bacteria levels up in the filter. Wil it be ok do you think until Monday..I can get both lots of my Tetra's then ??

You'll have to remind me, did the two shoals of tetra you wanted bring the stocking up to 100%? The sooner the better, i'd probably just put one shoal in but depends on how much space is left and how much the nitrites were processing?

With the 2 Gourami's and two shoals of Tetra's it brings the stocking to 79%

Water stats are perfect so have added six Neon Tetras and four Guppies today. Wanted to get the five Glowlight Tetras too but apparently P@H have a policy of only selling a max of six Tetras in one go...something to do with stress apparently ??.
Gouramis are happy and lively today and very confident. Wil check water stats in the morning, but i'm confident al will be ok.
Oh, I have bought some plants to float on the water surface. the Gouramis absoutely love them.

Looks great tetras should really be in groups of 6. Don't see why they wouldn't let you buy 3 one day and then 3 the next so that the bioload is spread out. Maybe something to do in the future as your current fish settle in.

Yeah sorry, meant 6 Glowlights. Will see how water stats are over Monday and if ok wil get them Tuesday. Thanks for all the help given to me during my tank cycling. would have probably cracked up without it lol. Hope all your fish are doing well now Si.

That actually made me laugh out loud lols at P@H for their novelty rules.

Really nice looking gourami though Liverbird! That sand looks lovely and clean as well keep it up!
