My Guppy Fry Journal

Ha very true. I've got 2 skunk loaches in mine - known for being very antisocial but mine don't bother anyone, unless they go in the castle. That belongs to the loaches. And they do pester the apple snails now and then. But I grow problem snails in my fry tank as a special treat for them and all is well. Though my tetra eat more snails than the loaches, didn't expect that. Haha

I think people have a bad experience, pass it on then everyone assumes they are all the same

Just an update. A couple of pics of the babies. They are all identical now, I call them the triplets!

You definitely need some girls for them! Their babies would be amazing

Aww, cute.

Thanks, I have noticed slight differences. Ones tail is more orange than vibrant red. One has a white dorsal fin with blue spots the other 2 are turning red. They bicker amongst themselves every so often is this normal?

Hey, thanks :) I know I have a severe 1:3 ratio - 3 males to 1 female  That wasn't intentional I thought one of the babies was female. The other females died after having babies. I am loving having guppies again and want a tank full of them! Although that wont happen with mr predator. Even though he's docile I don't think he'd resist baby fry. I will get a couple more females on friday and hopefully everything will go smoothly.

Hi guys so I finally got round to getting some females. Only got 2 as that's how many they had left and they are both half black so fry will be pretty :D I will add a few more over the next few weeks so I don't upset mr predator but he's not bothered that I added these 2 he generally minds his own business.

Last night I had an unfortunate event which resulted in me phoning my friend to come and take the paradise fish away (he has 2 hospital tanks)
I was playing ps3, just noticed commotion out the corner of my eye, saw the paradise fish what looked like sucking one of the males into his mouth head first then spitting him out then got him by the dorsal fin  I didn't even think they fitted in his mouth. He had been fine for weeks but was probably a ticking time bomb. I haven't seen that male since. I don't know if he's dead or if he's hiding as I can't see in the cories slate cave or behind the plants.
One of the other ones has a shredded dorsal fin and one of his side fins is shredded too :(
My friends taken the paradise fish to his hospital tank and will sell him on.
Learn from my mistakes-do your research before bringing a fish home just because it looks pretty.
Thanks

Today I have picked up my 3 platies. I was swaying back to them since my guppies kept dying after giving birth.
I have 2 vibrant red ones and a yellow one. The yellow one is female and so is one of the red ones and they are huge. I would say maybe a week left maybe not even that long. Here they are :D

Thanks

The yellow one looks pregnant, but my platies haven't seen a male in their life bar their mom which was nearly a year ago and are as fat as the red ones.

Maybe the red ones had too much cake haha! I have a soft spot for the red ones, they really brighten up a tank.

Lmao yes I agree they are greedy pigs!

I got rid of all my female guppies bar one that no one wanted :fun:. I kept some of my males. When they die, I'll try something else for a change but I love them.

Here are my two male platies in the other tank:
