My Guppy Fry Journal

Here are some pics of my biggest 6 week old fry. His tail is lovely, I can't capture the colours on camera though. His dorsal fin is white and his tail was white with black markings, now it' turning red and yellow with black markings.

I have been really worried about my female cobra guppy. She had her fry almost a week ago, she is still very skinny, and now her body is sort of bent. It just hangs. It's hard to describe but she just isn't herself at all. I gave them brine shrimp this morning but she ignored it which is very surprising as it's her favourite. I have some pics of her, maybe i'm just being paranoid?

Here are some pics where you can see, her body isn't straight.

The first fry is so pretty! I really hope you cobra is ok.

Thanks I am impressed with his size and his white tail. He's a keeper :D
I am so worried about her. I put the thread separate on the forum so that others can see her and give me their opinion.

Ok so I had to make a decision. My endler female has now got the little white tube sticking out of her, she is very square so I put her in the trap. In order to do this I had to release the babies into the main tank. They are loving it. The female guppy is the biggest fish I have but she's too weak to chase them so they are fine for the time being. I hope I have more babies soon!

Well last night I left the endler female in the trap for about an hour then she started getting frantic so I thought this isn't fair on her and let her out.
this was her last night. Not too big so maybe another few days yet?

So I got a new female today to give my other female a break as I didn't have the right ratio. As soon as I put her in the cobra female perked up and started swimming. I think the endlers were harassing her too much aswell. Here she is my new female :D

lovely! I guess that was it. Poor thing needed a smoke break.

Oh they are relentless. They wont leave her alone, they wont go near the endler female lol poor thing, but they just keep chasing the cobra female. I am so relieved that she's perked up. Maybe just needed a friend :)

I just did my daily water change and usually after I feed them I watch them to make sure there's nothing wrong and that's when I spotted another fry.
I had to let the 6 fry out the trap when I put the female endler in. When I let her back out I caught 4 fry and put them back in the trap and 2 of them were in the main tank. I now found a 3rd! That's 7 fry from my cobra female! They will be 2 weeks old on friday and they are coming along very nicely :D
I can't wait for all these fry to colour up. The red tailed fry from the first drop is still colourless apart from dorsal fin and tail :/ I can't remember how old they are I think they will be 11 weeks old.
The 2nd set of fry will be 7 weeks old I think lol I can't even remember. They have some stunning markings and white tails.
I will put pics up later :)

Here are some pics.

7 week old fry. He is the nicest one so far. His tail was white but now it's got red in it and he still has a white dorsal fin.

That's all folks :p

My female guppy seems to have taken a turn for the worst. Her body is very bent today, she's refused the food again, she's sitting by herself, her tail looks ragged I didn't even notice it was torn and strangely her eyes have turned red. By that I mean the bit around her pupil. How is this possible and what does it mean? I can't even get a pic of them, when I go to the tank she hides, which is odd as she usually comes up thinking i'm going to put food in. I will monitor her closely today.

It's very sad, I wouldn't be too worried if she was eating.
I usually feed the babies 3-4 times a day-tetra min in the morning then I give them frozen daphnia at lunchtime, then flake in the evening and tetra min at night. I cut the daphnia block in half, then half again-give a quarter to the babies in the trap and a quarter to the main tank so the other babies can get it-she's refused again.
She's now swimming in a sort of upright position, like she's stuggling to swim. She only has one of her fins at the side (pectoral fin?) but she's never been affected before. It's so hard to see her like this. She must be mature. I just don't know what to do.

I really wish I had some good advice here.

It's ok, i'm preparing for the worst. She doesn't even perk up after a water change. I just checked my stats in the off chance but they are spot on.
Just need to hope she recovers.

Today my female ate the food I put in  I don't understand what's going on. She must just have good days and bad days but i'll accept that. I also do this this birth has taken a lot out of her.
My 7 newborn fry will be 2 weeks old on friday. They are getting big :D can't wait to see what they turn out like, they have all darkened.
No more updates as of yet, just a waiting game with the fry!
