My Guppy Fry Journal

Aren't they just? lol I am hoping that male turns out all red, I have never had an all red male before. That would be awesome!
The female endler is looking quite fat-I would love for her to be pregnant! I would imagine the fry are going to be tiny. I will keep a close eye on her.

I decided to let all the fry out the trap as some were tiny compared to the ones who were already out.
There's 8 or 9 altogether. 2 of them are still tiny for 4 weeks old. Despite the daily water changed.
The fry who's been out in the main tank whose pic is above has got a lovely white tail with black speckles on it. His dorsal fin is white too. He is massive compared to the rest so hope they catch up with him and not get eaten.

I have had the week from hell this week excuse my language. I have had the worst toothache EVER! I haven't been able to eat anything since monday. I have been in and out of the dentist and am waiting for an appointment for the hospital. I was given antibiotics on wednesday and the next day my face doubled in size on the left. I was back at the dentist yesterday and they told me to give the antibiotics a chance. The pain subsided yesterday so I am relieved. I still look like I have a golf ball in my mouth though.
So today I was just staring at the fish tank thinking that fry looks tiny and go and take a closer look. Right enough it was tiny. I decided to trap it. Then I found 4 more-my cobra female who I deemed to be sterile has dropped fry! What a good end to a very hard week! I am so excited I can't wait to see what her fry turn out like. She is very skinny and her belly is totally flat which is why I knew it was her. The only other females I have are the 9 week old fry and the endler (yes I have the wrong amount of males to females but i'm waiting for these fry to grow!)
There could be more fry and I haven't seen them. My tank is a jungle at the moment.

I love the "un-kept" look lol.

Congratulation on your new babies, you have been waiting for these ones for so long, I am sure they will turn out amazing.

Thanks yeah I have been waiting for these. She is so skinny though, I hope she gets the weight back on.
My endler female also looks rather square. Hope she has fry too!

Yay babies!

And org! Get those yellowed leaves out of there silly! Lol
Listen-after the week i've had I am just getting everything organised lol. I couldn't even stand yesterday took all my energy to walk to the dentist :(
Loads better today I managed a slice of toast yesterday and it stayed down so i'm on the mend. The tank will be getting a water change - i've not been able to do it all week  and I will prune the plants.

Awww little soul.. don't get me started about teeth!!! Tryinng to hang on to mine

Yor Endlers are so pretty... Stay your way :D

Just busting your chops. {haha I saw the pun} Hope you are feeling better.

Now that I am thinking of it though...I worry about so many yellowed spots. What is your lighting?

Thanks, I would love my endler female to be pregnant. She has a big belly so here's hoping!

HAHA :p I have the standard lighting in the tank-the blue strip and the white strip in the hood. The lights on from about 8am until about 6pm.
I have never had such bad plants before, it started when I was treating the tank with salt. The amazon swords were all dying. They have never recovered, my cabomba is nice and green but the swords are patchy.

Well, removing deadened leaves can promote new growth, hopefully thats exactly what will happen.

So today I tore all the amazon swords out. I salvaged what I could (about 3 bunches) and replanted them. I took the opportunity and moved things about, put the redwood in the middle, the swords line the back, the cabomba on either side and I found another fry. That's now 6 lol.
Since I was moving things about, I did a 50% water change and the water is now starting to clear. The female oldest fry has been sitting on the sand not moving. She is not panting frantically, she's not got red gills or white spots  don't know whats up with her.

Hope she is ok, perhaps she is just sulking coz you rearranged things and it is not to her taste....

I hope so. It was a complete overhaul, she's probably confused. I checked the water just in case but thats spot on.

So my fry are almost a week old, 3 of them are starting to get dark tails, and dark spots.

My other fry who are almost 7 weeks old (times flown!) are doing great. Colouring up nicely!
I did take a video but when I take my memory card out to get the video-it's not there! I will work it out lol.
Oh and apollo won pet of the month :D
