My First Tank With Pics

Thats quite low light, but you could try easy to keep low light plants like Java Ferns, Java Moss, Anubias, Cryptocoryne, Christmas Moss and Duckweed.

As i tried to hint at before. More light isn't a replacement for the bubbles.

Normally to keep live plants healthy people usually add CO2 to their tanks. In your case i doubt there is a need, becasue off the low light.

The Anubias, Java Fern and Java Moss like to be attached to wood or rocks. So you could attach it using cotton or nylon.

I would add more plants to fight of algae.

You could ask on the Planted Tank section for more help.

Yea i know the plants i have now also dont require much light. Ill have to keep the bubbles for now because it helps with the cycling process, but as soon as its done cycling ill remove the bubbles and add java moss and java fern

Plants help the cycling process aswell.

Plants absorb and use the ammonia and nitrate. So plants can speed up the cycling.

Nice tank, what i did to upgrade the lighting, I added another one of those all glass light fixtures. The lighting on all glass aquariums is bad :(. I would also put the tank on a long enough surface if I were you, it might crack.

Just to clarify. (You might no this already) The bubbles create surface agitation, which drives of the CO2, which the plants need.

This made me sit up and take notice. Interesting point Gnatfish, and one I wasn't aware of. However, it could go some way to explaining the trouble I am having in keeping my plants looking good.
I have two filters in my tank, one of which is a Fluval Biolife with three filter stages, and the outlet I have always had so it blows bubbles back into the tank, mainly because my minnows love to swim against the flow of it.
However, after reading your post, it has made me think twice. I wonder if I were to turn the outlet down a bit so the flow was slower? Would that make any difference, do you think?

By the way, your tank looks good Arabballin!
