Howdy Folks!
I aggressively ripped out the fake decor out of my tank, eager to start a build...so here I am! I have attempted to plant this tank previously, but I did not dedicate any time to cultivating plants and/or propagating them, so it flopped.

Here is my fish stocking list :
- 5 Otocinclus (Otto's)
- 4 Albino Cory's
- 5 Longfin Tetras (glofish)
- 2 Pristella Tetras (glofish)
- 1 Shortfin Tetra/Skirt (glofish)
- 29 Guppies, Mollies and Platies
The Glofish are in the tank due to my mother's request. I personally am not a fan but oh well!

Plant stocking list :
I currently only have 1 Java Fern in the tank but I own, and will be adding
- Java Fern
- Bacopa
- Java Moss
- 2 dwarf hair grass mats (not sure what I'm going to do with it but we will figure it out
... and a few others I don't remember the name of LOL!

Hardscape:
- 2 pieces of Mopani Wood
- 50lbs Sand
- Indian Almond Leaves

Here is the Tank! The floating things are Indian Almond leaves; I honestly wouldn't be shocked if there is a dead fish or two featured in this photo.. We just stocked all of the guppies a week prior to (12/11/2025). The reason I call this a Brothel is due to the unorganized nature of breeding intent. I intend for them to breed, I am excited to see what comes of it, but it is completely uncontrolled chaos LOL! I do not have the time and/or space for a multi-tank, extensive setup for proper breeding.

I figured I'd add some lore to keep this thread entertaining LOL!

(yes I am aware that almost everyone has ich at the moment, they are undergoing treatment ;) )

Pictured here is Yin & Yang. They are interchangeable, it is just a pair name. I was initially just going to purchase the white based one and the manager (who was netting the fish) pointed out that there was one who looked the exact opposite of the white one. I had to get him as well, so here they are! ( Amazing sale tactic haha). It also turns out that the top one is male and the bottom is female!

I was attempting to take a pic of a specific fish but everyone said they wanted to partake in the photo op. I have very friendly fish, any time I am taking water they try to leave the tank with me lol! they love to eat from my fingers as well, especially the Longfin tetras. pardon the desperate need for water addition.

You're going to have a bit of work to do to keep that from becoming a 95 gallon broth.

A bare tank with possible dead fish being missed and an ich outbreak can get ugly fast. Follow the instructions on the meds, and move the decor daily to make sure no one dies unremoved. You can lock into large weekly partial water changes early on so it becomes routine, following the dosing to kill the killer parasite that's on the loose. In a tank like that, I would change out 40% weekly.

The genetic manipulation to make glofish doesn't harm them, but those poor mollies are afflicted with balloon bodies. That's going to make them vulnerable to gut issues, as their spinal deformity crunches up their intestines. Stores love them because they take less space than healthy fish, and they're everywhere.

Beat the ich and get the maintenance regime established and plants will be the next challenge. You'll have at least 3 weeks of ich meds. so I would hold off on adding plants for now. With so little substrate, you have to stick with unrooted plants.

Don't ask us to pardon the water issues - ask the fish! If they could answer and had feet, they might be aiming kicks at part of your anatomy. It's easily remedied with a bit of attention and work.

AMAZING PUN! Aggressive writing was not necessary LOL! I test my water DAILY and my parameters are optimal. I understand dealing with Ich, and I know how to treat it. As a fellow fish enthusiast, I’m SURE you can relate to fish stressed and having ich…. It is part of the glory of fishkeeping 😊.
Thank you for the educational aspect of that paragraph, I didn’t know that about balloon mollies! I will do some more research on that. I can’t just kill them because I already purchased them, but I can refrain from breeding them and/or purchasing/ ordering more for the franchise/ my tanks. :)
You cannot tell but the substrate is actually 3-4 inches thick. When I typed the substrate, I meant 3x 50lbs of sand (bags)

Also on the dead fish… I do remove dead ones as soon as I spot them. I took the picture before I did my 3rd daily maintenance session of the tank, which included ich meds, water refills, feeding, inspecting everyone, removing old bloodworms from bottom of the tank and/or other things that cause my tank to decline. I PROMISE you my fish are BEYOND cared for, I work at the LFS I purchase from.

Today’s update :
Bought/took home
1 - lyretail platy/molly mix
9 - pink tux male guppies
1 - female guppy
1 - spot. Cory cat

One of my buddies is planning on giving me some guppy fry (once they grow out a bit) from her imported European guppies. I haven’t seen what strain of guppies she got, but I’ll definitely write those down once I get them. Possibly a few mystery snails, but I need to do more research on that before I take those on. I’ve never PERSONALLY owned them in my own tanks.

Fishies wanted some attention :) that was during feeding time, they had been fed some bloodworms this evening, daphnia this morning alongside a small bit of flake food for the new ones (don’t want to upset their stomach).

how many female guppies do you have in total? The males look great, but one female to that many males may be a problem for the lone female

There is 18 females at the moment (verified, I believe 5 of the 7 fry are females as well)
