My boss had a breeding colony of frontosas in three tanks. One of the three just has the big breeding female. She is very shy and I try and get her to come out of her clay pot (by the way this girl is at least 11" long) but she just squishes in farth back in her pot. Her babies are 4" long and are a little shy but I think they are use to it. The mid adults are bold little things that will come right to you and just look at you like "Are you just gonna stand there or feed us?" The big momma's mate is shy too. Are they wild or something???Oh by the wasy for those of you that did not know I work at a fish store NOT A PET STORE and we have a breeding facility in the basement. Frontosas are not the only fish down there that is hard to find. My boss also keeps some julies and like five spieces of tropheus (one of which he keeps in a 200g). Are julies rare or something because I have never seen them at a normal pet stores. They also frag corals down there.

I wouldn't have said Julidochromis species are particularly rare.

I don't believe you can decide whether something is wild or domestic based on their bahaviour :dunno: My frontosa are all pretty jumpy and weird and they're tank bred. It seems like the guy who owns the fish shop would know his own fish best...?

Masked Julies are Julidochromis Transcriptus and not rare at all.

Well they sure breed like they aren't rare. He has like 20 in this tank and he says he started out with 5! hahahaha
