Been running this skimmer on my Rio180 since the start and never felt i have "tuned" it in correctly. It doesnt seem to collect much skimate it can go days without collecting and will only collect when i fiddle but then aafter initial collection it will stop.

Just took a pic the ventuir valve is open to the 2 O'clock position you cant see it in this pic.

Yes its hanging on front of the tank so i could see the cup in relation to water level in main chamber. It usully resides around the back.

Is it such that my tank doesnt produce many nutrients at the moment? stocked with CUC and 2 clown fish at minute.

I use an mce600 and to set it up most efficiently ,I just took off the collection cup and moved the valve a little bit gave it a couple of minutes then measured how high the foam was and basically repeated this until the foam reached the highest point I could get it. Simple as that :good:

The other thing to watch is the little bit of hard pipe between the pump and air intake line, they tend to crust up with deposits over time which reduces air flow and efficiency, I just remove it and scrape it out with a little screwdriver now and then.

thanks for responses,

its setup with the cup lowest it will go and venturi fully open and is collecting a small amount of foam, nothing in there to produce much yet so see how things progress
