The cabinet is really pretty too. Not the same old standard color. Very nice!

Liking the FX4, Iā€™d like one of those too or one of the new 07 Fluval filters, just seems solidly built and cheaper than the Eheims.

A bit annoying about the chip but as long as just a very minor thing and not affecting anything else, well, not an issue really.

That root wood is starting to look real good now that youā€™ve added some substrate, rocks and a few plants.

Nice.

Yeah it was annoying at the time and if Iā€™d bought it from a shop I think Iā€™d have returned it but it doesnā€™t affect the running and doesnā€™t leak so itā€™s aesthetic only.

So at this point I added the fish since I need to break down the old tank. New filter has old filters media in it so should be a straight swap.

With the hood on.

That was fast work, donā€™t hang around do you!

:good:That last picture really bought things to life, the addition of the plants made the difference, excellent stuff!

Looks real nice.

Swapping over the media from the old filter will do the trick nicely, just need to keep a eye on parameters as you already know!

Real mixed livestock you have, difficult to see exactly what you have as the pic on my iPhone does not do it justice I donā€™t think!

But excellent work.

Thanks. In fairness, a lot of this was done last year, I just hadnā€˜t sorted out a journal. I just wanted to share with you guys what Iā€™ve been up to

My next arrival at this point :)

I spent a fair amount of time looking at lighting options, considering some LED lighting but ended up going with a company here in the UK called iQuatics. They specialise in lighting for tanks.

Iā€™ve gone for a set up with 6 T5 54w tubes. what Iā€™ve bought comes with two plugs so you can run 2, 4 or 6 tubes at once.

The daytime lighting looks great, everything shows their colours really well. Great choice there.

Have never really been a fan of evening or blue lighting in tanks, makes it looks like every livestock has disappeared and ghostly!
Thatā€™s just me though, suppose itā€™s better than looking at a dark black tank though!

Lovely! Nice job!

Iā€™ve always wanted some moonlights so thought it would be a good opportunity. I can also change the tubes if I wanted but like what Iā€™ve got so far. I have the daylight bulbs on for about 5 to 5 1/2 hours then the blues come on for about 2 hours with a slight overlap.

I think the moonlights have changed as theyā€™ve aged but Iā€™ll post more photos later in this thread. :)

The daylight tubes consist of 3 tropical and one brilliant white. I was worried the tropical ones were a little pink but I think I could have got away with 4 tropical. Happy with the current mix though.

Moonlights are one purple and one blue to give more of a moonlight effect as just blue wouldnā€™t have looked as natural as it should.

I'm actually looking for some new lights, would you mind sending a link to their website? They look very nice
