Love Your Tank......do You?

I can honestly say that I do love my set up.

Of course I do keep it super clean so the water is always super clear and the substrate clean. I change the rock formation every time I do a water change so it's appearance is different weekly. The lighting is bright with loads of shadow areas then changes to blue (moonlight)nightly.

Then there's the stock......a variety of Cichlids from the African Lake Tanganyika. The most interesting of cichlids (only my opinion)

Finally there is the overall look of the tank and cabinet. Friends think I had the tank specially commissioned as it fits in so well with the room!

So there you have it.......I really do love my tank.............do you love yours or do you constantly lust after something different?

well. i do lust after every time I log onto here. My only problem is cost. I love my tank but, I always want to add to it. I've only been at it 2 years so I've a long way to go yet to get my dream tank i suppose

Always loved my tanks, just not what was in them ive gone through a process of buying fish spur of the moment but then not liking them or they disrupted my tanks, resulting in taking them back to the shop or giving them to friends.

Now ive finally completed my main tank, with 6 bronze corys, 3 fancy guppies (breeding project) and 2 BN plecos.

My 5gal which up untill today had a betta in it, but now houses my baby corys which where unexpected.

My betta is currently in a big bag in my main tank, just waiting for a heater to arrive to transfer him to a square 5-6gal tank my friend has loaned me. Hope hes ok untill then

Although my dream tank still awaits me, something of massive capacity fully planted with all the trimmings, what fish will go in it i dont know but

Don't do it! I got bored of my blue lobster in a little over a month they don't do much at all

Why not get the best of both worlds and get a pair or trio of African Filter Shrimp, Atya galonensis, which do not have the claws but seem to often colour-up a pastel blue?

Seems the critical factors are a six months or more matured tank (needed for plenty of microscopic life for them to feed on); multiple hiding spots (from each other and everyone else after molting); tankmates that will not attack them during their shell-molting phase (when they are very vunerable).

I'm pondering on these guys for sometime after September!

Edit: I'm with you Doresy, I love my tank too. Having just completed my stocking yesterday, with three new Lionhead cichlids; 3 Barilius bakeri; 4 Barilius canarensis; I'm really chuffed with the species I've managed to get hold of and all are doing well (although I'm still gutted about my three casualties: Pearl Danio from what appeared to be Dropsy; Yellowtail from what appeared to be acclimitisation stress within 48 hours; baby Rabbit Snail from what I think was being eaten by one of my Opsarius).

My only regret is not having room for more African fish like Killis; Bushfish; African Butterfly Fish to name a few, but there's always the chance of getting a killer deal on a 5+foot tank at some point!

I love my tanks, but for me it's about my fish. I've had most of them for many years and am very attached to them. I had an issue in my largest tank early this year when I introduced two young synos, who brought in foreign contaminants to my water system. Took a good number of months to remove the damage and some of my older synos are still not 100% right from it all. I rarely go anywhere but a few well known sources for new fish and these hadn't been from one of them so guess it was my own fault. When you have a mature set-up that has been running for years, it doesn't take much to set things wrong!
