Good evening Jayne,

This tanks log does look to me like its progressing.

I'm going to try and get some sleep even though the teenagers are out there in the other end of the house. My fish are hoping I'll be rested enough to clean their filter tomorrow! Saw some fresh neons at one of the LFSs for Oliver's waiting Qtank but they looked awfully small, I think I'll check back later and see who's survived.

Hi thanks om, trouble is I think its sticking, they are not returning to 0 in 12 hours at all now. so I have started dosing at 4ppm again to encourage a nitrite spike as we didnt get a good one first time.
results today
ammonia 2
nitrites 1

24hours after ammonia dosing, results are

ammonia 0.25
nitrites 1
nitrates 5-10
pH 8

OK,I have another tank which is needed urgently for my betta who I hope will be arriving this week, therefore I have taken the white filter sponge from this filter to place in the 48L tank filter, and put the 48L filter in this one, so recycling this tank we'll see how it goes, expecting full recylce.

ammonia and nitrites were 0 this morning. added 4ml ammonia

so Day 1 again!

99% down to gravel waterchange....nitrites hit 1ppm after the filter swop, so wanted to check from scratch if ammonia is being processed. so new water added 4mls ammonia, see what happens in the morning.....and the adopted filter sponge seems to be working in tank 3
