Kinda Rethinking...

How tall is the adult angelfish vertically from FIN TO FIN? How about horizontally from FIN TO FIN?

My angel was 8 inches both ways after about a year and I think he was considered large, only ever had one so dont know what to compare it too. Only heard of angels eating danios but no probs with danio nipping angels, as for livebearers not sure about swords but I reckon platies would be fine :)

Yeah probably

Okay, great! So my idea on the stocking now is

1 Angelfish
3 Apistogramma
8 Sterabai Cory
5 Zebra Danio

I am taking a risk with the zebra danios. I haven't read anywhere where angels have eaten them. And read that they won't nip at their fins. So I hope it all works!

You could easily do schools of 10 for the Danio and the Cories, its a 40g right?

Yes, it's a 40 gallon breeder. The dimensions of it are 36"x16"x18". I thought about that, but I would need more filtering. I plan on buying a pump to put on the sponge filter right now.

What filter do you have?

Whats the turnover like on it? In liters or gallons per hour.

I think that the Aquatech filters about 10 GPH, and the sponge filter just has an air pump attached to it. But I plan on getting a pump for it in the next week or so.

10 gallons per hour? That is far far too small for your tank, I wouldnt even consider putting one fish in there at all. That means it takes the filter 4 hours to filter your tank once, where as you should be looking to have a filter that can handle your tank capacity at bare minimum 4 times an hour. Ideally you want about 5 or 6x an hour, have a look at the fluval U3 or U4 they would be good for your tank.

Wills

Like I said, I will be purchasing a pump for my sponge filter. I don't plan on adding any fish for another month or so. And I will be getting the pump in like a week.

Wait, I just looked it up on the internet, and the Aquatech 5-15 is actually 100 GPH. Sorry.

Ah cool okay thats a bit better, but still try for a bigger filter. Youve been keeping fish long enough to know how important a good filter is
