I need some help from computer literate people.

My laptop is a piece of crap and I am about to stick an axe through it if this doesn't get fixed.

Laptop is an Acer Aspire 7
I have had it for just over 3 years. This started 1 week after the extended warranty ran out.
I am using windows10 that came with it.
The last update I did was about 3 months ago and it was a major update.

A couple of weeks ago that stupid computer company microsofty did something and tried to install something on my laptop even though I have updates turned off. There is a little icon in bottom right corner that appears when microsofty try to update something. Since then some of the keys on my keyboard haven't been working, or they work intermittently.

I was using the laptop this morning without any major issues. I finished using the laptop and closed the lid and went off to do other things. I came back later and tried to use the laptop but it wouldn't start up even though the lights under the keys were on and something was processing (I could hear it running). I had to turn the laptop off by holding down the power button for 10 seconds. I waited a minute and then turned it back on and the keyboard doesn't work on microsofty programs. However, it does work in Firefox and in Notepad. I am using Firefox to do this.

If I type something in Notepad, I can copy and paste it into most microsofty programs but not all.

I have shut the laptop down and restarted it several times and that didn't fix it.
I uninstalled the keyboard drivers and shut down and restarted the lappy but it didn't help.
I have checked for latest keyboard drivers and am apparently using the latest (from 2012).
I have run troubleshooting keyboard and it says there is nothing wrong.
I have tried holding the laptop upside down and shaking stuff out of the keys and it was clean. I have also removed the keys that don't work properly and they are fine physically.
I did a system restore to before this happened.

I have looked on Google and there are a number of questions with the same issue but no answers from microsofty besides what I tried.

Does anyone know what is wrong and how I can fix this because it is pushing my buttons (no pun intended)?

Hi! Can't help loads but I've just found this which might be worth a look. Good luck!

I was so excited for a moment then because it fixed the problem in microsofty edge web broswer. However, it didn't fix anything else and when I shut down the pc and reloaded it, ms edge didn't work again until I ran C:\Windows\System32\ctfmon.exe again.

So still an issue but a partial workaround has been found as long as I use it every time I restart the laptop.

Fuplie microsoft and their crap programming.

Recently, I heard that the latest Windows update created a lot of problems for Dell laptops.
I heard that some Dell laptop cannot restart and some even crashed(some of my colleagues are facing this issue).
And they have to press the power button plus another button to restart.

I wonder could it be the same problem as Dell laptops.
If that is the case, you may have to call the Acer service centre for help.
You may need the expert from Acer to help.

You can ask for help through the phone first.
Ask them for the steps by steps instructions on how to restore it.

But if it's still cannot work, then only you bring it down to the service centre.
If the warranty has expired, they may charge you for the repair costs.

I suspect it's a Windows incompatible issue with certain brands of laptop especially Dell that affected my people and it could be a global issue.

If it keeps acting up do this:

That should fix it good.
