specialty tools…

The most special tool I use at least once every two weeks is a temperature regulator on the water tap I use to fill the tank for a water change. I set it to approximately 75 F, check it with a normal alcohol thermometer, then fill the tank, it handles the pressure and flow changes as others still use the water keeping the temp between 74 and 76 degrees. In general, I don't tend to accumulate much gear for the fish other than I have a whole collection of AquaClear filters and parts, which I don't often use because I prefer canister filters now.

I too have a set of long forceps that I use constantly for removing excess greenery (in conjunction with a pair of scissors), feeding my frog, and grabbing random stuff without sticking my big, white hand in and terrifying the critters.

With the paludarium, I use the phone flashlight a surprising amount, especially for making sure no fish have wormed their way into the pump area.

Then there are the pythons, of course.

I haven't found a way to use any of my bows for fish keeping yet, so those two hobbies remain distinct.
I have two Exo Terra paludarium's that I used to keep frogs in that I need to sell in order to get a bigger aquarium in there. Problem is neither I nor my husband can lift them in order to get them into bath to clean them any more. Guess I'll just have to put them on e'bay as dirty ones that the seller will have to come in and disconnect from currently unused electrical outlets to carry out as well as clean them. I can then get around to getting another aquarium.

Have not yet needed to adapt anything other than using my old scissor forceps for aquariums yet, but am sure I will find other things once I get another aquarium, especially as it will be a deeper one with less room to get to bottom of it within the piece furniture I am going to keep it.
