Any ideas on what he is??? He is about 3/4 of an inch long, doesn't seem to be too aggressive and enjoys picking at my aquarium plants.

I could really use the help guys!!! I have google searched many a time, but can't find anything that looks like him. I have never seen keyhole babies, could it be one? Thanks for the replies that I have gotten thus far. I appreciate it.

Sorry munchy, maybe next time I'll catch one for you... The website is good, but a little broad. I am starting to think I have a new species!! Will someone ID this fishy? Maybe I should offer a reward or something.

looks like some kind of sunfish to me.

Awesome!!! Now were getting somewhere. :) I looked up some sunfish wolf, I suppose it could easily be they look pretty similar. And it sort of looks like a ram I suppose, though I have never seen a ram quite like him... Maybe I should send it to a fish expert at some university, anyone know of any... lol?

Here of a couple of sunfish, think that it could be one?

I would near bet it's a juvenile chchlid of some discription. It would be hard for someone not interested in cichlids to tell as juve colouration differs wildly from adult. I would try the question in the cichlid section.

the best match on sunfish I can find is Lepomis cyanellus green sunfish
given the dark spot at the rear of the dorsal fin I think it could be that.

I said my thoughts on the other thread about the spring :good: :D!!!!

If it does turn out to be a hybrid... maybe I'll take it off your hands :hey: .

We'll ahve ot wait and see how it turns out as it grows up. it's only a juvie whatever it is right now.

I'm possibly drunk so that goes hand in hand with talking rubbish, maybe a siamese tiger fish...
I'm sure i've seen a similar fish labelled as that, then again i may be very, very confused, errr....
:drinks:

i no what it is........:)
its a blue gill. ( a type of sunfish) when they are tiny they look real silver and distinct stripes. when they get older the stripes kida fade. trust me on this one ive cought many of these wile fishing.

IT IS NOT A GREEN SUNFISH!

omg no wait how could i be so stupid bluegills dont have red eyes!
but a northern rockbass does. im assuming it has red eyes that are broken up with a single stripe in the middle and one side is red and the other a yellow-redish color.

hmm rock bass are kinda a greenish color tho....
like i said before it very well could have been a bluegill.

where abouts in the usa do u live? that will make a big difference. it could be native.
