Ever since my big water change last week...I've turned up sky blue nitrite test at 12 hour mark so its official woohooo!! Heck even after I screwed up and forgot to add the ammonia 1 day its still good. woohoooooooooo fishies definately this weekend when the family can all go with.

Also, I know Im limited as to what I can get for a 10 gallon tank (I cannot WAIT until next february when I'll be able to upgrade to a bigger tank).

Hubby wants an apple snail

Im thinking on limiting the kids to either all barbs (which types would be okay?)
Or platys and maybe a couple of mollies mixed? The LFS doesnt use salt anyway so I'd be okay there I think. We dont really like any of the other fish so can these work? How many and what mixture would be okay?

brilliant Lioness, well pleased for you!! :good:

you've probably seen it but just in case you haven't, there's a pinned topic with recommendations for 10gal tanks.

You want nothing that gets over 2/3" and nothing massivley active.

Platys would work, mollies maybe get a bit big.... it's do-able but the tanks probanly just a bit on the small side for them IYKWIM.

I would be looking at a trio of small cories and a group of small shoaling fish like tetras or rasboras, but that's just my personal preference.

If you could limit yourself to group of tetras and group of corries it would make things so easy. If you get livebearers like platies, they will be filling the tank with babies very fast and you'll have a whole new set of long-running things to worry about. Why not sit back and have some peace for a while after all you've been through?

We're all pullin' for you though and happy!

depends, if you get all male platies you won't have babies.
