In trruth i don't like killi because many species have short life span and it makes me sad when a fish die. I prefer fishes that can live 5 to 50 years. The longer the betterI think a good fishkeeper realizes quickly this is a lot like growing flowers. You can buy cut flowers for instant gratification, but it's fun to grow your own even if it takes a seaso, or in some cases, a year to see the full flowering.
I'm very pleased today because I put some Nothobranchius palmqvisti eggs that had been incubating for 3 months into water, and what did I get? A couple of dozen fry.
Since I wasn't quite sure how I'd do, I have a dozen more more bags of wet coco coir I had in various tanks of adults, hoping they'd breed. This first hatch is already more than I could have hoped for, but I'll hatch them all over the next 3 months, and the local pet stores will profit.
One store sells them at $60 a pair, and so I can change that market pretty fast. These are pretty pretty fish.
