Ideal Hideaway For A Bn Plec?

Hey guys,

Anyone know where to buy/what to use as an ideal hideaway for a bn plec? I'm planning on getting one in a few weeks for my setup, and was wondering what to do.

I have a coconut cave at the moment, aswell as 2 pieces of wood in the tank for the centre piece.

I have 3-4 medium sized rocks, could I stack these around the bottom of the filter and just have that as a space? The filter has a 4-5" gap under it.

yes these are all good hidey holes, anywhere dark and out of the way basically, at garden centres you can pick up slate cheap,i found a maahoosive peice 2 foot/1foot and broke it up making alot of caves with this stuff,placing ontop of rocks..only cost me 1.50 uk pounds

Great thanks, may have to go and take a look, the rocks I have are orangey/red colour so are quite nice

Are they also ok with shrimp?

Wood makes the best hide outs for plecos. They like to chew on it and find shelter in it.

Mine never liked the coconut caves - too small. You can buy ready made slate caves for them on ebay

Oh now the slate sounds like a good and cheap option, making caves with that, I may well just do that!

Would you need to soak the slate in anything prior to adding it to the tank?
