Ian's Lounge Tank

It's a shame they dug up the HC -_-

How come your shrimp come out in the day loads, mine seem to come out at night all the time...

dwarf cichlids will eat his shrimp, rams probably won't eat bigger ones but they might eat smaller ones

I would go for the rams or similar dwarf cichlids

It's put me right off Cichlids, however i would love to be able to keep GBR's or Gold rams. My GH is way to high though. I may go down the Gourami route again.

Mine are always out and about, i did buy some ghost shrimp a couple of days ago. My LFS sells them as feeders @ 35p each!! I got £3 worth. They are great little workers. I shall be buying more at that price. A interesting shrimp, you can see the food they eat as it digests!

I thought ghost shrimp were just amanos? I want some blue shrimp but they will just get chomped on!

I love shrimps, they are great working in a tank, they can get into every nook and cranny. The Ghost shrimp or Glass shrimp don't look like Amanos, there eyes are on stalks and they are really transparent, where my Amanos are a tinge of brown. Like i say @ 35p you might as well just shouve em in the tank! I'll get some pics later of them.

Ah right, I see... Its probably better with your substrate as well. with sand there masses of poop show up

If my LFS sold them for that price I'd definately have some more!

This tank is like a hotel with all the guests that come and go

Looking great though Ian, a big school of Normans Lampeyes would look good with the Cardinals, just an idea.

I have always struggled to get a center piece fish, lol. I may just end up going back to Honey Gouramis, they are pretty fail safe in a planted tank.

Hmmm, I'll have to give this some thought. After all, you did suggest to me WCMM. I like honey gouramis, but I'm thinking you want something bigger? What about Pearl gouramis? When I had them in tanks, I didn't see them eat any plants, though some of the larger gouramis do nibble on fine-leaved plants...

I'll think about this more. You could also do another barb species. Black ruby or Rosy barbs?

Liz

well...they (Keyholes) went back to LFS this afternoon, they were really digging around the Hc. I have trimmed the Hc and its still spreading nicely.

-_- what a shame!

James.

Ive been told not to keep keyholes because they pick off smaller fish when they get bigger. Have you looked at Congo Tetras? I have two at the minute

Congos are shoaling fish and his tank is not big enough for a shoal. I come back to my suggestion of a betta species: Betta channoides or Betta macrostoma. Can be kept in groups and are mouthbrooders. The channoides male is simply stunning....

What about a group of Colisa labiosa instead of C.chuna? Something a bit more exotic and bigger than Honeys :good:

The tanks looking brilliant Ian!!

Do you know the Hygro's full name? It looks great.

What about a Rainbowfish as the centre piece?
