[I don't mind the common fish Is it easy to tell the difference between sexes when your buying them? I have a phobia of livebearing females haha

Lol yeah, if I can do it anyone can. The male's anal fin is pointy and the female's is like a fan.

Another one of my tetra's is ill, so they are not getting their numbers increased. The reason i haven't rehomed them is because two died from neon tetra disease. Whilst the others have been fine since (because i removed and quarantined the sick ones asap), i didn't want to chance it. Now one is bloated and swimming upwards and two have pale patches on their red stripe. All tetra's are being quarantined and treated as of today.

So, i have decided now, that i will get 4x cherry barbs.

how my tank will be so far:
1x betta
7x galaxy rasbora (aiming to get up to 15)
6x cory cats (buying 1x albino)
5x cherry barbs (buying 4)
lots of shrimps
approx ~15 apple snails (got babies that are going to be rehomed,homes are lined up)

its also looking like 4x rams so far, and i dont know what else lol

If the ticto barb is the same thing as an Odessa barb, your betta's in for it, they nip quite a bit

I am digging this post up again because its almost payday.
My tank is currently on lock-down from bacterial infections that im treating, and all new fish are going to be quarantined in a seperate tank before they are introduced to my community once it is healthy again and has had a few rounds of carbon treatment(i won't be buying fish until the new year, just to make that clear)

my stocking so far is:

7x galaxy rasbora
3x cherry barb
4x corydoras

my apple snails and most of my shrimp have been moved out and my Betta is more than likely moving too (thats if he doesnt get any sicker ) so im not including him in this



I am thinking.....

7x galaxy rasbora
4x cherry barb
5/6x corydoras
6x rummynose tetra
6x congo tetra
either a pair of keyhold cichlids or ram cichlids

is this overkill on the number of shoaling species? My corycats tend to stay out the way and live amongst my plants and i cant decide which tetra i like more
I am going to discuss the cichlids with my LFS but does anybody have an opinion on this?

My tank is 125L, heavily planted and according to a certain stocking calculator the filtration is fine for the list above

i have 5 'shoals' in my 133L tank, i think it works great. i have cory's and cherry barbs, aswell as red eye, buenos aires and emporer tetra. i am really growing to think the emporors are great fish. they look amazing, get nice and big and chunky, and are the most peaceful of the 3 tetra types i have. id say your stocking would be perfectly fine, maybe even up the cherry barbs another couple as they're tiny.
