I Made An Order I Just Had To Have One

Poor lil fella :(

Trooper would certainly be the appropriate name if he makes it. I find it remarkable how people can post live items in such a poor way, its shocking. I'm always amazed aswell how a fish can look like he's on the brink of death and the next day they can be swimming around like nothing has happened. Fingers crossed for you and your fish.

Might be a daft question, is he eating at all? Do you reckon dropping in a few live daphnia or bloodworm would be worthwhile, atleast if they are there wriggling around it might spark a bit of movement. Ofcourse you don't want to add anything that can risk contaminating the water or making it deteriate moor.

have not tried any food yet I will try bloodworms tomorow. I'm really worried about the strang mark on his side.

Could it be stress related?

I know nothing of Sev's, nor fish illness's to be frank, so i can't help there. It certainly does look a bit odd, and nothing like anything i've seen before.

I thought the mark was like a sore spot from being stuck on its side during shipping. Its also not a Severum its a wild Discus but I can see why you thought it was a severum.

Could he been overdrugged for the journey. I've never heard of this being done before. I do hope he pulls through for you. Keep us updated.

Oh poor little guy  that mark on his side almost looks like the scales have been rubbed by the bag. Fingers crossed he makes it.

agreed it deffinately looks like an abrasion from something , healthy discus will heal from this type of thing pretty quickly , altho hes obviously going to be pretty stressed at the moment , just be sure to keep the water spotlessly clean , i wouldnt worry too much about food just yet , id say 99% certain it wouldnt eat it and then it ill just fowl the water. id wait until it is able to right itself and is swimming properly 1st , then try a small amount of food and see how that gos .

Agreed

OMG he is up right and swimming around checking things out. he's a live i'm so happy looks like he will male it wow my little trooper. His color is a little better too. I'm going to try and feed him some frozen blood worms.

Thanks guys. I'm glad you all agree that his side is like that from rubbing on the bag during shipping because i thought that at first but then started freaking out when he was not getting better and started to thinking the worst.

Oh I'm so happy To see him up swimming. I really was not sure he would make it. I can't wait to move him in with his new mates I feel bad he is all alone. Who ever said wild caught fish were weak was so wrong. Maybe his swim bladder was messed up during shipping? When I got my red severum shipped to me he hard to fight a bit to swim down. After a day of rest he was fine and still is.

I will get some more photo now that he looks alive.

Ah I'm so glad he's getting better :hyper: :)

I think it's weird people say wild caught fish are weaker than tank bred, if anything I'd think it were the other way round.

a horrible thread to read really happy he is ok

Well now he is still now he is back to staying in one place. I gave him some blood worms and he eat 2 . I almost think I should just add him in with the others because he must be stressed being alone. Since I know now that he can swim.
