I have a female veiltail, and she's quite hyper. She races around the tank and almost always is on the move. She will have a long burst of energy (5-20 minutes) and then rest for about 30 seconds. I got her 3 weeks ago. The reason that I'm sort of worried is that My friend has a betta who just kind of sits around. He's four years old, and still doing well. Is it normal for a betta to be so hyper? Also, I'm hoping to get a snail, what type would be compatible? I don't have any algae, though, but can I still have one?

Have you been testing the water at all since you set the tank up, and are you doing water changes?

Checking the water is always the first thing you want to do if you're at all worried about your fish's behaviour.
