Help Id This Plec

Hey,

I am more into my cichlids so I can't say myself. I know everyone starts somewhere but does the bottom havta feel so lonely ... hahahahahaha


Thanks btw ... He is amazing, most people notice my Oscar then the plec so I am proud of him, he also eats upside down when the flakes get dropped in and that is pretty cool cause I havent seen that with my friends plecs.

Gorgous plec, I think its a Pterygoplichthys gibbiceps from the paterning, I have on, he is about 16" (called Gibbs) his pal is a common pleco called Jethro he is 18"

Stunning plecs ... WOW !! ...

They get pretty big hey, mine has "stopped" growing, I hope I never stunted him by putting him into a 63g tank. How big are your tanks out of interest??

Mine is about 3 years old (got him at 2 inches... in SA that is approx. 50mm).. He grew up in a 4ft tank (spending lots of his early youth in the fish room cleaning up behind the babies)... so is in retirement now.

That is still one of my objectives.... to breed Bristlenose.... But, as I'm sure Richard will confirm... Here in SA, breeding stocks of any sort are not readily available....

i hear breeding bn's is relatively easy? i think the best way may be to get 6 juvis and see who pairs off after a given time.

Hey again,

It's not only breeding stock that is hard to find, most shops are either rip offs (sorry 2 be so foreward) or you walk in and 50% of their stock has meds in the tank which makes me instantly hesitant to buy from them.

Finding babies is pretty easy though cause anything bigger than 10cm is almost non existent. lol

I see that too often Richard... All tanks with blue or green water... I refuse to buy at those shops... I asked the owner about that and he said it is only to give a colour effect... has nothing to do with the health of the fish
