What kind of plec is this ??

Hey all,


I only know of plecs that love 2 stick to the glass and suck away ... LOL ... sorry if that sounds ignorant.


I will take a peak at that site u mentioned and see if I can maybe make a guestimate ...


If it helps, this guy is aggressive when need be, he "sucked on" my rainbow albino shark that was easily 1.5x this guys size and landed up killing it (I treated but with no luck, the wound eventually split and he died)

Yes Richard... They are cute and hardworking little fellas when small, but as they get bigger, they turn out to be a nuisance, always trying to latch onto other fish to get some slime off their bodies... (obviously to the detriment of the other fish, to the extent that they even start loosing scales and develop fungus)... Not a rare fish but also not desirable in a community tank.

Hey Ludwig,

not desirable in a community tank.

I should start looking for a new home for him then, my 1 mate moved overseas and left me his 3ft community tank which had this guy and a highfin plec 30cm (11in) in size along with 2 albino rainbow sharks. So I transfered them into my 63g community tank.

The highfin is armoured so I was thinking of putting it into my future 180g oscar tank but havent researched that yet.

Hey Plecostomus-mad,

As far as my local fish store goes they said its a standard high fin, they were wrong about the Chinese Algae Eater so lets hope they were right here.

Like I said its a community tank so ignore the flakes, all the tets were on the other side of the tank so I took the chance while the plec was "flared".
