Has Anyone Kept These?

Chlamydogobius eremius aka Australian Desert Goby.

I found these on aquabid, googled them and found a store close to me that carries them, although they're thirteen dollars a pop. They seem to be pretty awesome, and they might replace the gobies I wanted to get but can't seem to get a hold of, but the price is kinda steep for me. I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with them or knew anyone who did before I shell out for a couple. Thanks.

I don't know much about them, apart from what I have just read on the www, but they sound awesome !

Gobies are great little characters. I have some Stiphodon semoni gobies in my freshwater community tank and they are such a great addition. I'd say go for it !

Goby are fantastic little creatures especially if you have sand substrate.......they are the only thing I miss from my old community set up

Yes, have kept these fish. They're very nice. Although expensive, they're easy to breed, so you'll soon make your money back if you sell the fry on.

They are notorious jumpers. I lost an entire batch by keeping them in an open tank. I was away for a holiday, and when I came back, they'd all gone save one of the fry that had looked after itself eating algae and whatnot.

Males are slightly aggressive towards each other.

They do prefer slightly brackish conditions. In the wild they tolerate a very wide range of conditions from almost pure rainwater through to water that is more salty than the sea. But under aquarium conditions they should be kept in either hard, basic water or, for best results, slightly brackish water (around SG 1.003 is fine).

Oh, I was hoping to keep them in a community setting, although with a thought to breeding. So, no brackish.

You can't breed them in a community tank, so adding a little salt isn't a problem. The amount of salt needed is trivial; SG 1.002-1.003 is fine.
