JEBO....ever heard of it?????

Im looking for a light less than or around the 200 dollar area for my 55 gallon reef tank (48"Lx13"Wx21"H). If anyone has any suggestions that would help.

I'm not going to be keeping any corals that are to difficult. I was thinking of xenia, bubble, and plate coral and then maybe some mushrooms, brain coral, and poylps.

Yeah, ive heard of them. They are ok if your doing FOWLR, but if your going to keep corals, go with something more powerful, or something atleast with more quality than Jebo.

As the saying goes "You get what you pay for".

If you wanna do it right, go T5's or MH, with a depth of 21" you'll need something to punch down through the water. These might be more expensive alternatives, but you get quality and better choice of livestock. T8's wouldnt cut the mustard IMO

Shop around. Use online stores to check prices, there should be some very competitve stores online in the US. Check local forums for people selling there stuff aswell. You can get some 150W MH shopfitters for under $100-150 now.

I have that exact fixture over my 120 gal. Bottom line is it works good for the price. Its a little on the low side for my tank but provides enough light for my softies. For a 55 I'd say it will be plenty of light for anything other than some of the sps. If you have the money I'd get better lighting, but if you're on a budget the jebo fixture is fine.

The downsides I have found so far (and fixed btw) are that the fans they come with are crap and that the fixture only has a single power cord. I replaced the fans with faster more reliable computer fans. One of the originals went out within 2 months of being new. I knew about the cord issue going in. With only one power cord you can't use multiple timers to control the lighting. This was also a simple fix. I tore into the fixture and gave each light its own power supply. One for the moon lights, one for the balast with daylights, and one for the balast with acitinics.

Total I have $120 in my Jebo light compared to my brother's "name brand" PC fixture that he spent $300+.

thanks guys. I think i am going to go with MH. Just might have to shop around for a while to find a good light for a good price.

I have a Jebo PC fixture which works very well. My only qualm with it is that it uses straight pin bulbs which are very hard to find in the US. Since you're going MH, just make sure it uses bulbs that are readily available in this country ;). If you order ANY light fixture online make SURE you get shipping insurance cause the possibility of busted lighting is VERY real.
