Hard Decision, Sold All My Fishes.

FWFishLover, no offense to you but that chart isn't the greatest, there were a couple of things that were way off, especially the eels thing...

Alind, try to take the goldfish back, and don't kick yourself, you never meant for anything to happen to your mollies.
i didnt make the chart fyi petco did

okay friends, i am going to return my goldfish as you said,
but please don't make an opinion about me because here i had seen and been adviced alot to keep goldfish for my tank,
but i know you all are much more expert and have a deep knowlege and experiance.

So i follow what you say blindly.

so please suggest me what should i take in exchange of these goldfishes ??

And
If at LFS they refuse to take back the fishes,as they belive gold fish can even live happy in a coffee mug!, then what can i do with my goldfishes, can i put them in water tank of my home ?
If this sound annoying, let me clear that was also an idea from someone, not mine.

I was feeling like i have lost my decision taking power, but when i look at the whole stuff, it is actually i was pulled from both sides,my local people and my international friends.

Help !!!!

tell them you are done with fish and no longer need them then go to a different fish store.
the people at your LFS are lying to you to make a quick buck

The only good permanent home for fish like goldfish is very large. A common goldfish, called a comet, can grow to well over 30 cm. I am sure you can imagine what that would look like in your tanks. The best place for a goldfish to live is in an outdoor pond. In general, a minimum of 20 gallons of water is recommended for the first goldfish, with at least 10 gallons for each additional fish. Goldfish will just tolerate a temperature up to maybe 24C but can go into waters that freeze over completely in winter. When I lived in Canada, one of my neighbors kept golfish outdoors year around. In his pond, the surface froze over around November and stayed frozen until March. Since the goldfish metabolism slows down a lot in cold water, the fish were fine as long as the water they were in stayed liquid. The pond often had a 30 cm thick layer of ice on top but the water never froze completely. When the water temperature rose to around 10C, he would start feeding his fish again and they would be fine.

i personally think that you kinda full with just the mollies, maybe 2 or 1 more because they are somewhat dirty fish. if you are a heavy stocker, then i would go with an 8 molly maximum of either all males or all females.

Hi Alind

I for one don't make opinions about you,and i'm sure others don't neither.

We can only advise you on the information we have learnt along the way, :good:

Now hopefully the lfs will take the goldfish back, why don't you get some guppies or platies, these are also livebearers like the mollies,so you will probably end up with more babies  ,unless you get all males,or male endlers are very pretty, unsure if they sell them in india,or small tetras, like neons or ember tetras are cute.

Try to stay away from any barb fish has these tend to be aggressive.

Can you remember what fish your lfs had?

i wouldn't put them in your water tank ,has this will pollute the water for your home.. you could always put a pond in the garden :)

Yes mam,

As you said i returned the goldfish, and take nothing in return.

Now i am thinking about just keeping my 40 molly fry .

And sure i will next time ask you before buying even a single fish.

Thanks for so much of your time.

Once again thanks from bottom of my heart.

Yes sir,
i returned the fishes to LFS,and i am recalling we also studied this about fishes in school.

where are these fry being kept? and since you are planning to keep all 40 i would suggest a 40 gallon tank minimum. but since you will have some fish die or get eaten it should be around 30 ish, and since i assume you cannot kill (cull) any fry i would suggest to sell or give away some till you have about 18-20 in which case you can only have a 20 gallon tank to maintain them.

HI Alind

Well done on taking the goldfish back, you have done the right thing, :good:

Good luck with the molly fry,let us know how they get on :)

he need a much larger tank than 1 gallon per fish.
alind let me know how many you plan on keeping and i shall tell you a good size

all males isnt a good idea because of dominance issues and they wouldnt get along so well

actually it would work becaused its heavliy stocked, he'd just need more filtration and care.people do it all the time, but yeah it woudnt hurt to go an extra size up.

and theres no way im allowing males and females in the 7 gal. he already said hes too attached to the current ones so swittching genders is not an option. and female/male combo would yield even more fry.

im also pretty sure there will be little to no dominance issues, and i dont really feel comfortable putting anything else in there as that tank cant allow for a school of anything excpet for maybe endlers or ember teras with a few shrimp.

also btw you NEED to get at least 3 more corys for your tank
