Green Algee Which Does Not Want To Go

i have green algee in my quarentean tank which does not want to get the hell out of there
i have put snails in not working cut down light not working tryed chemicals for algee not working how can i get rid of the stuff???
help please asap sponofdelboy
 
The only direct culprit for green algea that I can think of is "direct light"...., but you say you've cut down on this??.... Maybe you should just drain completely, put out in the sun for a day or two to remove all "spores" of algea and recycle from scratch..... No other suggestions.
 
do you have a picture of it?
how fast does it grow?
does it smell musty or feel like slime? If so it could be blue green algae (Cyanobacter) and this is a bit harder to get rid of. If the tank is for quarantine purposes only then do as Ludwig suggests and empty the tank, wash with a mild bleach solution, then rinse thoroughly and allow to dry for a couple of days.
 
I happen to like a little algae in my aquarium? :S
 
Nah, just your typical green algae. There is no such thing as a 'little' Cyano algae

If its only in your quaranteen tank then whats the worry?

Its not supposed to be looked at!! :rolleyes:
