i have 7 2 are dieing

the shop will nt take any back

What is the nitrate of your tap water?
do nt no
any 1 in cheshire uk know

is there any thing i can buy at all to save them
any thing i can do at all
i now have charged the water by 30 %
any more i can do / buy


please help they are dieing one by one

but why are they yellow tips swimming like normal

Most likely the ammonia and/or nitrite poisoning had already gotten the best of them before you started the thread and started trying to save them. There may not be anything you can do now. Just do the water changes and hope for the best.

i never through because i have had fish there for about a year
oh god u just made me think they were dieing off but like 1 a month or something 1 would die i just through it was old age or something

Hiya 123,

Just clear up a couple of things that others have missed,

Yes your guppys do eat tropical flakes the same as your other fish, unfortunately when ill animals including fish dont much feel like eating, which is why they havent seemed like they wanted the flake you have been offering.

Also, The reason your old fish are totally fine and the new ones are all dying is that the older fish had gotten used to the poor conditions in your tank, the nitrate levels will have built up slowly while they were in there so will be "normal"-ish for them, whereas the new fish went in from good water and will have been shocked by the massive change


It sounds to me like you've had the tank for a very long time but it has never really been maintained or cleaned properly. Whether you manage to save your last guppies or not, I think your best option after all this has happened would be to not add anymore fish for a very long time and read up as much as you can so you can understand what needs doing with a tank and how to fix the problems you currently have

yep they have nt been new fish in there for like a yr
1 thing i have learned is to clean my tank a lot more

what are the charges of them being saved

if i

The guppy fry (babies) will be eaten if found. Could you transfer them to a seperate tank? If not, make sure the tank is heavily planted. You can buy Liqurfry from almost all LFS, and after a week guppies can be fed on crushed flake food.

They will take anywhere upto 6-8 months the be fully grown, but colouration will start to appear in the first 6 weeks or less.
