Good News For Those With Large Tanks!

Just thought I would share this with you as it may save some of you a lot of time and effort! I have a 250L tank in my living room which is a pain to do water changes for. I've struggled for a year syphoning it off into a huge tub, then emptying it by the bucketfull down the loo then refilling.- - a major and exhausting job.

I purchased 8 meters of tubing the same size as on my gravel vac, attached it to my gravel vac, ran the other end to the loo - shook and it works!! Its cut the job down by half and im really pleased cos I didnt think it would work with tubing that length!

I really didnt think that it would go along that length of pipe without it being downhill! I've often mentioned on here how hard it is doing it by the bucketload and no one put me right! So if im that stupid im betting there are a few more on here that are too and I want to save them the backache!!

I got my extra tubing off of Ebay - you can buy it by the meter however long you need it and its not expensive! Im all for the weight lifting but I dont want to become Miss Universe! It's much easier only doing the refill buckets and cuts the time in half too as once ive hoovered I can just sit and watch!

I don't have a massive tank but I also quite enjoy the lifting ( 5 x 3 gallon bucketfulls there and back ) . It's brilliant for toning your arms! I'm a big woman but I hardly have any bingo wings at all!

Yeah, I use a bunch of Python parts (it was just easy getting all the right stuff from one place and its high quality) but I don't actually use the little three-way valve thing. Its too simple to just first siphon out to the garden (assuming weather is nice) and its so easy to simply lift the gravel tube once into the air to get the siphon going. Then I simply attach the far end to a brass adapter (again, from Python and the real reason I used them: they have them for loads of different faucet types) and fill the tank directly from the faucet (even though the faucet is at the far end of the house from the tank!)
