Hi!

I have a 4 year old comet goldfish in 125g fish tank. Lately I’ve been noticing he’s hanging out in the back corner of the tank and isn’t swimming around like he normally would. His fins aren’t clamped and he’s not resting on the bottom, just sitting in the corner. He comes out to eat. Any idea if something might be wrong with him? He’s kind of my pride and joy so I want to be extra careful.

As a precaution I did a 45% water change.

Before the change my readings were:
Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: 10 ppm
pH: 7.4

After the water change:
Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: 5ppm
pH: 7.4

My tank demensions are:
72x18x22

Thanks!

can you post a picture of the fish, and maybe a short 20 second video of it sitting there?

I assume he’s on the bottom of the tank in the corner. What is your water temp? Goldies like 68 - 72F to really be comfortable. Mine rest a lot in the corner of the tank. Usually after a meal or in the warmer part of the day. It’s perfectly normal.

I agree with Deanasue, it’s not uncommon for goldfish to rest at the bottom of the tank even at some point during the daytime sometimes.
