right ive decided for a total re-vamp and almost complete re-stock im gonna get rid of almost everything leaving just vinny the rtbs the firemouth and corys , may or may not keep the golden nugget not decided yet. . im gonna use this big chunk of wood in the middle as a centrepiece
newwood.jpg

then as i seem to of found a plant vinny wont eat ( elodea densa) im gonna put plant substrate in selected areas and plant a few bunches of it to add some greenery. ivegot 2 smaller pieces of wood 1 of which im gonna plant with anubias the other java moss.

probs wont be able to do it for a month or 2 but that gives me some time to finalise the new stocking. which will either be new worlds or non cichlids which are compatible with what will be left .

and i thought when i started reading the thread and glanced down at the wood, you'd be selling it!

oh well. :good:

Very nice idea can't wait to see it all set up and that wood in it's glory.

Your severum does not eat elodea densa? Mine loves the leafs of this plant . I grow it in my Cory tank and give it to her as a teat. Java fern , Crypt balansae, and other crypt seem to be safe.

he always used to eat it . in fact i actually got these 2 bunches specificly for him to nibble at but its been in for 2 weeks and hes left it alone its even laid down roots and sprouted new growth .

maybe he got sick of it. Haha.

i would go for non cichlids, obviously i don't know your fish history but from what i've seen/ read you have done many SA cichlids so i would go for something completely different what that is i have no idea, perhaps some nice schooling charchins.

severums are cichlids.... no way!!!! in relation to alot of choice only one choice for me and thats a long nosed distichodus or perhaps banded leporinus.

ignore me if this is a daft suggestion but could you keep rainbowfish with Vinny?

If your after more movement and colour these would certainly provide it

I;ve always wanted a rainbow fish display tank

just noticed your keeping the firemouths as well, not sure whether that makes rainbows out of limits although I;ve always found firemouths all bark and no bite

I like liams suggestion of the headstander types, not sure the leporinus is the right one as they can become pretty problematic at times but there are quite a few options there and a lot of nice options a good sized group of the marbled headstanders would look good. Or to keep on a spotted trend with Vinny how about spotted headstanders?

woops. ignore...

im thinking maybe some hatchetfish and a shoal of carachin of some kind something a bit unusual . i know i could trust vinny with both . but will have to do some research regarding the firemouth once ive settled on something. or i could probably go for a group of bosemani or similar

I always use platys for something small and colourful...cheap, alot brighter than any tetra and fun to watch :p
