So I traded one of my 29 gallon tanks for a 55 gallon acrylic tank. My stand is coming in the mail soon.

I have been told (or read somewhere) that an acrylic needs foam under it. What kind of foam? Styrofoam, neoprene mat, yoga mat?

I have some 1/4 neoprene foam matting, about 5 feet of it, leftover from a project.

wait how did you trade a small tank for a big tank?

I put it under all of my tanks glass or acrylic. I had some laminate flooring underlay, 3mm thick. I don’t think it really matters too much what you use so long as it is dense enough and doesn’t just completely squash flat.

Polystyrene foam sheets that go under aquariums are available from any pet shop. Get a piece that is 10-20mm thick.

They got it for their daughter for Christmas, but she wanted something smaller, lol. Mine was a complete set up, but in return got only the tank and a couple of odds and ends fish stuff.
