Cleaned test tube again with warm water & kitchen towel. Did Nitrite test again --- 0.8ppm

Cleaned again, tested again. nitrite 0.8ppm




Fingers crossed
 
If the low nitrite reading was off a full 5ppm dose I would say you`re ready to dose at 24 hours and test for nitrite at 12 hours

Nitrite less than 0.1ppm. (A very slight tinge to the water so i am not willing to say 0ppm just yet.)

seems I am nearly ready to start my qualifying week. will test at 12 hours & if that goes according to plan will dose to 5ppm next time

Decided to up the dose so now have dosed to 5ppm

Good, looks like you identified the crossover from phase 2 to phase 3 is likely and have begun to bring your ammonia dose back up accordingly. Looks like there were some N-Bacs in that mature media after all and that they have survived the transfers between filters. Now comes the wait for zeros at 12 hours.

From your 12 hour results it looks like your n bacs are balancing with your a bacs, I`d say you`re nearly there
