Fish food problem!!

Ok well my filter is back and working fine, i have been doing a fishless cycle and im sure by sunday i should be ready to add fish, im probally going to get tetras. about the platies thing, well i tohught i liked them but then i thought they were kinda boring so i think i jsut need some more active fish. what does WCMM mean? i think im going to go look in the tetra section mabye start a topic or add on to another one thanks for your help!

White Cloud Mountin Minnow. :) And if your filter breaks and then starts up again, you are really going to have to watch it, because if it stops running, and there is no water going through it, the beneficial bacteria will die and you'll have to cycle all over, which won't be good with fish. :/

right, i am either going tofday or tomorrow to the pet store to look for some fish so i may get the white clouds, my ammonia is donw to zer obut my alkanity is low... what should i do to raise it?

I'd say so, yes, especially if you want other fish. They are best kept in pairs, but if they start breeding, they are going to be a terror. I'd skip them. And make sure you get a few White Clouds, preferably more then 4 because they are schooling fish. Though I still think a 10gal is a little on the small side for them...

Ok here is an update!! i decided not to get the white clouds. i gave my male platy away. i am left wtih an albino catfish. Then today i went to the fish store and bought 5 fish. i obught 4 glow lite tetras and 1 more albino catfish. Did i do good or did i mess up?

You did well, though you'll need at least 1 more Albino Cory, and preferably 2(+) more Glo-Lites, since they are both schooling fish. :)

Yes i know but i dotn want to overstock.... well not really overstock but dotn you think that is alot of fish for a 10 gallon? Also these fish love to eat!!! haha i am very pleased with that. My albino cories love each otehr. they follow each other around all day. how do you tell the sex of the cories and how do you tell the sex of the glowlite tetras?

One more thing... for the albino cories is there any special treats like cucumbers or peas or soemthing for a special treat, soemthing cheap as i do not want to buy algae wafers unless that is their only way of a treat

Both of them are near impossible to sex, unless you see them breeding. Plus, 6 Glo-Lites and 3 Cories should be okay, since the Glo-Lites don't produce much waste, and are tiny.

For treats, they like Bloodworms, Brine Shrimp, Tubifex worms...things like that, especially frozen. I'm sure they'd like Live too, but I don't have the heart to feed it so I couldn't tell you for sure. :)

Depends which kind of peas...if they are frozen, definitely cook them some. If they are fresh, it can really go either way. For Cories, I would cook it a little, to soften it up, and then cut it into REALLY tiny pieces. Take off the skin too. :)

okay thanks alot for your help, this topic orginally started with my palatys not eating but its gone to a differant topic, i wil ldefiantly try the pea thing as i realise that my glowlite tetras eat all the food before it gets down for the cories, i will be getting algae tablets so that will help and then i hope that they will get happier, just wondering if i decide to get another cory so you think that there will be to much compition for food since they are in a pretty small tank?
