Hi, We have 2 fire bellied newts, one of which is struggling to swim downwards, once he is on the bottom he struggles to stay there.......
Is there anything I can do to help the little fella?
water is only 6" deep and they have places to climb out of the water.

Looks healthy enough otherwise

thanks

Rob

There is a link in my footer to caudata.org they are a site which specialise in newts/salamanders/frogs etc. You'll get more specialist advice there.

Is he eating ok? What kind of fire bellied newts are they?

as dips says, it depends on which "firebelly" you have. Chinese are tropical, Japanese are temperate. Chinese need no land, Japanese require it. and these are only the "basic" problems to look at.
