I haven't had to clean my Fluval yet, but the others I have all have a combination of Filter Packs and Biological Filteration, the Fluval does also.

I clean the filter packs once every 2 weeks and replace them when necessary. The same will apply to my Fluval.

I don't touch the bio-filter unless I absolutely have to.

I just clean the sponges aswell.I did my 204's for the first time i had it (since august) and that was pretty filthy!!.

Eww... does yours get covered in that yucky gunky slimy stuff? I make Sir scrape that off.

lol, nah at the bottom of the filter on the sponges it was saturated witha thick black sludge.

The inpeller had the brown slimy stuff on but i forgot to clean that
