Dan-Cr4 Fishless Cycle

If it's only taking 15 hours to clear the both of them then it really shouldn't take too long to get it down to the 12 hour mark :)
Maybe.. you should do the same tests tomorrow morning if you can.. and it might give you an idea of how many days you have left before its clear in 12 hours.

Atleast its still the same and not gone up! lol!

yes, i will test at 8am and if its still 0.25 i will test at 9.30 again. just to see how far off it is from 12 hours.

day 30 : tonights 8pm results are

ammonia : 0

nitrite : 0

nitrate : did not test

ph : 7.8

i have updated the history of my cycle in the first post. still waiting for the nitrite to drop to 0 in 12 hours, it did it in 15 hours last night.

Good Morning all

Well today is Day 31. I have just done my usual ammonia and nitrite 8am test and both are at 0 :hyper: within 12 hours :good:

so i just need for this to stay like this tomorrow and i can start my qualifying week (am i right?)

thanks

Danny

Yup, that's right. Right on the one month mark! That makes this fishless cycle close to borderline fast and to me that makes the qualifying week all the more important - we don't want another "fake out" like happened to member "Nork" (don't know if you read his fishless cycling thread?) We want to be sure its not going to decide to cough up another big nitrite spike or something! So I would go for a nice long "qualifying week" ... remembering that part of the point of it is to also be focusing you down on the final logistics of whether you will actually be able to find and get all the fish you want in your first stocking introduction. Sometimes not all the right fish are in yet and you can use that to stretch out the qualifying period, knowing it gives you even more assurance.

~~waterdrop~~ :good:

yes i did read norks cycle and i am in no rush to put the fish in, will be happy when i do, but would rather make sure the tank/filter is as cycled as it can be before adding fish. all along i have said to myself i will do as much as i can not to harm any fish and if it takes me a few extra days/weeks to do that then so be it.

although im excited that my cycle may be coming to an end. just keeping me fingers crossed.

Hi all

tonights 8pm results on Day 31 are really the same as the previous days but here they are

ammonia : 0

nitrite : 0

nitrate : 80+ this is just a bit darker than 80 but not quite 160

ph : 7.8

temperature is staying steady at 84. lets see if i can get 2 days in a row of getting 0 nitrite tomorrow morning.

today is Day 32 and this mornings 8am ammonia and nitrite are both at 0. that means 2 days in a row my nitrite has been processed within 12 hours. all seems to be going ok so far, keeping me fingers crossed that it continues.

Danny

Day 32 : 8pm results as follows...

ammonia : 0

nitrite : 0

nitrate : did not test today

ph : 7.8

results are staying steady which must be a good thing. i have updated the tables on first post as usual.

i think it may be time to start my qualifying week? i will see how the next 12 hours go.

Danny

thanks Ryefish, im hoping tomorrow i can make it 3 days i a row of clearing nitrite in 12 hours. really looking forward to getting fish once im done.

Day 33 :

This mornings ammonia test was 0 and the nitrite was 0 :hey: :hey: that makes it 3 days in a row that the nitrite has been processed within 12 hours, so it does look like i am in my qualifying week. I will be hoping that the next few days will continue as they are and i dont get any spikes.
