D:

Hey guys... I don't know if you saw my post or not, but the fish didn't die from the cycle. They died from the food.

are you aware that when your filter is cycled on a ten gallon, it's still not cycled for your 29 gallon and you will STILL have to go through a cycle while the bacteria tries to catch up?

And how do you get that? Bacteria is bacteria. It's all the same, as long as the PH isn't extreme in one tank or salty or anything.

I only have three fish.

I wouldn't be doing this if I had a full stock.

Exactly, they seem to be ignoring that, and are chastising me about the way I'm doing my cycle. I know it's different from the norm, but it still accomplishes the same thing.

There's no way they died from the cycle, as there was none, and my zeolite was brand new when they all died.

I get that because the amount of bacteria needed to keep a ten gallon cycled is not the same as the amount to keep a 29 gallon cycled. If I cycled a filter on a ten gallon tank, then put it on a 55 gallon tank, I couldn't put my 55 gallons worth of fish in that tank right away. The bacteria is there, but it wouldn't be enough to handle the bioload. And my tank would still experience a "mini cycle".

As the guy only has three fish, I suppose it's more of a moot point, but i thought I should point it out anyhow.

Well, you would just have to add more ammonia. He's cycling a 10gallon filter to use in a 30gallon tank. If you needed 3 drops of ammonia in the ten gallon to raise the ammonia to a certain level, you'll need to use 9 drops to have the right amount of bacteria for the 30g.

Thanks, I'll do that. I was cycling for the ten, and planned on adding a fish or two weekly.

Don't use the exact drops, though, I've never fishless cycled, so I have no idea how much ammonia it takes...
