silver: Some people think that fish are only fish, and cats are only cats... and well, that they are all just animals and we are superior and can do anything to them. If you get a pet, even if it is a snail, fish, cat or pig, you take care of it. Even if it's just a snail. They are your responsibility.

I wasn't attacking Arashi, I was just really concerned about the snail and was worried that Arashi might not know how bad it will propably turn to. And I'm sure Arashi understands that.

No hard feelings, please. I wasn't trying to make anyone feel bad.

Wow. Thanks silver. Bit outbursty, but very well said. I've actually been wanting to say something like that for a while now (not necessarily in this thread )...you just took the words out of my mouth.

rain - Yes, I do know how badly Clowns love snails, and I do know that even though it was fairly comical, they were trying to really eat Snaily. I do appreciate your concern for Snaily, and he is now living happily with my livebearers who pick on no one. No hard feelings on this end.

Blah; I'm just not a snail sympathizer. Especially sympathizing for large apple snails that would rip up my plants . . .

Plus, I was recently was rid of a horrible snail infestation by a pair of young clowns (who I love and are super greatful to)

Rain said it right. Humans are just humans too, right? We destroy Earth the most, so I am sure everything else in this world couldn't care if we got eaten by a shark.

Seeing how the snail is a pet and not meant to be as food does make a difference. I think it would be our obligation to let him/her know what the intentions and end result would be for the snail.

I feel the same way as Rain however, in not trying to run down anyone.

I actually don't know what you mean as if it were me, I would rather be killed immediately, than lose and arm, then an ear, then my foot, nose, etc. That would suck.

Nope. They've never ever gotten a single bite out of him and they shared the tank together for several months. And now that Snaily is out of the tank, they never will.

JESUS, it's just a freaking SNAIL......??? It all depends on how much quality of life an individual pegs on certain life forms....... to me, since the snail is BIG then I tend to feel more sorry for him, but he is still just a DA/\/\ SNAIL!!!! When I had 2 clown loaches....for a very SHORT period of time a couple of months ago...I was like "YEEEHA, you get them snails" "KILL EM KILL EM KILL EM" "Here, let me put them in your mouth FOR you!!!"... I was LOVING it!!!!!!

urgghhh theres a difference between pond snails (ones that multiply over night) and golden apple snails! these are great inverts they add caracter to the tanks they are in! just because you 'luv' clowns dosnt mean you can buy golden apple snails just so they can rip it apart, ppl actualy respect that they are another member of the tanks... unlike most ppl on these forums.
lets just say parrots are easily disposable of... hmmm lets put it in a tank where it can be ripped to peices... fun!

not all species of golden apples actualy eat plants!, iv got one in with live plants, all he does is eat off the dead matter! read up before you judge!

Well, this is Arashi's thread and not about fighting about snail rights. I understand that many people don't see apple snails as pets and certainly not as equal as fish when it comes to taking care of them. This is one of those discussions that won't end well, it will most likely turn to flaming, even when no-one wants it.

This was about clown loaches and snails. Predators and prays. And you don't put predators and prays in the same room if you want them both live happily. It's as simple as that =)

Snaily is safe and many thank's to Arashi about that.

Maybe us others should go watch our tanks and let our feelings cool down a bit. And perhaps continue this discussion someplace else if it still interests people and you feel like it might do some good to talk about it.
