Brichardi aren't shelldwellers Matt which is probably why you didn't see any shells! ;)

they arent  i thought that the scientific name neolamporlogus bichardi meant that they were shelldwellers. arent most neolamprologus shelldwellers? i really like them. nice tank stang. :good: when im older im probably going to set up a 100 gallon tanganyika tank with all kinds of shelldwellers. does anyone know about the blue tanganyika killifish?

Not heard of that one Matt.
I'm not sure about the Neolamprologus reference but I know that Brichardi don't need shells. The ones at my lfs are about 3" and swim freely around the tank with only a couple of bits of rock in there. Sounds bare but can't be too bad as they've actually bred in there!
Tanks are best kept with only one species of shelldwellers in as far as I know. I made the mistake of having two different types in my tank and there was constant fighting and aggression.
You could quite easily set up a 15-20G tank and keep a few shelldwellers in there, they would be more than happy. ;)
