Delivered a tank today which happened to be right by Shirley Aquatics & Maidenhead so we made an outing of if. I could not believe the prices of some of the fish. I nearly keeled over backwards at the price of Ellioti  £14.95!!! Daemons same price, firemouths £8 something geo's all around the £15 mark, there was one lonely little front and I didnt dare ask! even the smaller tetra etc seem to have gone up. I think I need to get out more lol

you think thats bad
2"female frontosa are 40 euro in maidenhead aquatics in ireland
nuts!!!!!!!!!

Ellioti seems expensive, FMs are about right round here in humberside as are geos. Once a geo hits about 3 inches your lucky if you can find them under £20 Plecs are the worst here though one shop charges £40 for anything with an L number

Yeh some are stupid, my local Watermarque wants £21.95 for Silver Dollars @ 2"

The other Watermarque store 30 miles away, owned by the same guy and they use the same supplier (their own, j + k aquatics) want £2.99 per Silver Dollar.

So i had to drive 30 miles to buy them at a certain price...even tho the profits go to the same place.

Lame.

Told you MA had them for that price - madness!!

My Geo's cost £8 each, so they were quite cheap in comparison to some places I see them.

I thought the Ellioti was a price error lol. I must admit both shops were very empty of customers, I am not suprised at those prices and Shirley was having a sale. Got some lovely tanks though, found one perfect for the fronts, could house them all, trouble was it was about £1800.

Red Line Torpedo Barbs are endangered so the price fluctuates everywhere.

In the same store i have seen them go from £12 ea, £48 ea, £25 ea back to £12 ea over a few months.

God knows why Silver Dollars are going at crazy prices in this one particular shop tho :S lol i think the main appeal of SD'd is they are cheap and get to big for most cichlids to eat :p

i think prices vary greatly everywhere, i see some prices people mention on here and am quite disgusted really! the ma near me in blackpool sells frontosas for £15 at about 4" all the way up to £40 for 8" ones which is fair as far as their price's go, and geo surinamensis for £8.
my lfs has firemouths at £2, malawis between £2.50 and £5, 12" fire eels for £12 about 20 different corydora species between £1.50 and £4 and loads more, i guess im just lucky looking at some price's elsewhere!
because i like odd fish most of them have to be ordered in but even then they are cheaper than most i see.
it won't help for imported fish at the moment with the pound being so low, maybe that does have an impact on price's.

The best places for prices are pets@home because you can tell them that the fish is a Neon Tetra and they will sell it to you for 50p ;) lol!

I just bought 3x baby Severums for £6.50/ea and a baby Keyhole for the same. I paid £30 for a Geophagus Surinamensis but he's like 3-4in plus tail.

To be honest the only fish with high price tags around here are L numbered catfish. Cheapest is £30, common price point is £50-£80 or more which is a bit much for my stomach.

I know what you mean, I'm going to pick up a Blue Phantom Pleco L128 for £20 tomorrow nigh because I know there is a certain member of staff on

I find that quite expensive. (i'd be moaning lol!)

I have 5 Sevs and this is what i paid

3" Red Spotted female = £7
3" Green Severum = £2
4" Gold Severum = £10
5" Green Severum = £3
7" Red Spotted Male = £25

Surinamensis usually go for £10 @ around 4-5" like pretty much every common peaceful Geo, more bolshy types like Brasiliensis go much cheaper at around £3.

My 3" Blue Acara was £3
4" Green Terror £3
3" Convict £2
5" Sajica £3
