i bought him from hollybush today and they said it was cichasoma multispinosa which i can finf nothing on the internet about it i can find multispinosa but im struggling to find it!

I agree with you looks like a veija synspila aka redheaded cichlid to me too. Those colour and not seen in many others. Maybe a Vieja hartwegi "Tailbar Cichlid".

Hollybush have no clue, look up the veija as mentioned above, these get pretty big and aggressive.

Agreed with the other its a Vieja - your gonna need a 6ft tank before to long with all those big, mean cichlids in there.

i know im building a fishhouse in my brick built shed Im considering breeding them (all) and see how it goes! How much would a 5" specimen usually go for? Just curious if I have been done or not!

Approx £5-7 for a 3" I would say, so not a bad price.

I guess they thought it was a Herotilapia Multispinosa AKA Rainbow Cichlid, which it obviously isn't

i paid £8 he's about 5" i think its Tailbar Cichlid/Vieja hartwegi but mine is missing the 2 sloges above the band!

Yes deffo a vieja,iam thinking bifa like my old one,beautiful fish but watch them,got one bad attitude,my old female is alone in a 4-2-2ft tank,wont accept anything at all even a hand in the tank,great wet pet or a huge tank needed for tank mates

this is your stocking with the vieja?there will be blood shed if yes, you need to rehome everything,whats the tanks dimentions?

yeah its in there its only temporary until I get the fishhouse finished which isn't too far away. There was a little agro earlier but the Vieja stayed out of it! Its all quiet again. I have my eye on it! I found Vieja microphthalmus which looks closer still!
