so… this tank has still been working out well, however no one is fully mature so every day is the chance for a shake up… the jewels are the dominant group… large to small run the show, and actually the butterfly cichlids, and the congo blues are of similar heiarchy, but don’t really pick on each other or a jewel jumps in the middle… everyone swims through the pile of cichlid caves, but probably all too young to set up shop… the butter fly fish ( Pantodon buchholzi ) added later has been freely swimming the top at night, but has a hiding spot in the large bunch of peace lily roots, that it spends it’s days away from the cichlids and tetras…

I think generally the africa tetras are tougher / more aggressive than south american tetras, as they hold thier own against everyone but the jewels…

these african jewels are a fraction as agressive as the central or south american jewels, and while they chase around, they don’t hunt down and engage the way the other jewels I triedpreviously did…
