Fish ID

I bought 10 Rasbora hengels the other day, and found 11 fish in the bag when I got home, including the one in the photo. Would someone help ID this fish, is it an Ember Tetra?

Probably ember tetra.

I agree, it looks the same as the ember tetras in my tank.

Thanks for that. I might go back and get some more, they are half the price of the rasbora hengel. Not looking forward to the 3 hour round trip though.

They are nice little fishes and more flexible on water chemistry. I prefer ruby tetra and morse code tetra though they are a bit more picky on water softness.

Definitely Ember Tetra; I have 17 in my tank. They look great huddled together, then when one moves, they all move in a lovely school.

I just looked up morse code tetra. Not hard to see why they're given that name .

I've just had to do the same. I've never seen them, or at least never noticed them in the UK. Nice fish!

They look nicer in darker water and behave nearly identical to ember tetra and ruby tetra a smaller but more active critter:
