Right my discus are goin I already have my green severum which has already grew loads ! What I'm askin will my rummy rose tetras be safe, and will my cory serbs be safe and how about brislenose plecs and also have 2 L44 plecs ? I know my cardinal tetras will be dinner as there tiny. I'm sure my clowns will be fine as there anout 8 inch each

The Rummynose will also be food, Corys will be fine with the Severum but won't be if you add the likes of an Oscar. Plecs and Clowns will be fine,

Also if your thinking to add something along the lines of an Oscar, then how about going for a Chocolate Cichlid, very similar in size and temperament to an Oscar, but not so run of the mill

Will look in to them , thanks , wanted a albeno oscar and a tiger one first , parrot, blue jd , maybe a frontasia

i hope your tank is huge as most of those mentioned will grow very big...... a frontosa is a very shy fish unless kept with its own species and may not do very well in a tank along with more fiesty fish such as oscars, parrots and jacks. just for a pair of oscars that are adults you will need a 6x2x2. do plenty of research before jumping in as there are many stunning cichlid species out there to be kept that stay a bit smaller and are more compatable with each other.

Tank is a 95gallon bullet tank , ok frotosa might not be on the list then now ! Thanks for advice any other fish u recomend with a bit of personality

well going from your profile you state your set up is -

85 gallon LAC bullet tank
2028 eheim pro 2 filter

going on that without tank dimensions i would say its not big enough for 2 oscars let alone other big cichlids  85 gallon = 386 UK litres minus displacement and underfilling makes it considerably less!

i would go for a single large fish or a group of medium cichlids like firemouths etc

Going to have to be a little bit more specific than that Beech :) Come back with the dimentions. I like your idea of the blue Jack though ;) Which aught to do well in a tank of atleast 4ft length and 16+ inch wide. Oscars do seriously limit what can be kept in any tank though, as beautifull as they are. Mine was barely 3-4@ and was taking adult male platys whole. They were temporarily in the same tank, i didn't bargain on them becoming lunch quite so soon

As matt says, there are plenty of smaller cichlids with character and colour that will be far more suitable if you wish to have other fish aswell. An Oscar on his/her own with a plec of sorts is a very appealing idea to myself too though!

Shizzle , must be 85 lol looks like 2 oscars are out of the question ! Doh might just get a jd , firemouth, parrot for now and 2 keyholes as love keyholes

if you mean a true parrot then i think the tank will be too small too as these get to oscar size and can be nasty when bigger so to keep it in with other big cichlids isnt a good idea in a small environment.

firemouths and keyholes may work depending on the firemouths temperament. my old fm use to harrass my rainbow cichlids that were bigger than him constantly and he was only a juvi  adding a jd into the mix could end up nasty again due to lack of space!!!!!!

I reckon I might just have a tank full of them all and introduce them nicely lol or a battle of the strongest lol

its really trial and error with cichlids and most will get on as juvis but as soon as they grow and need personal space this is when it kicks off. my old tank that was 6.5ftx2x2 had if i remember right 5-6 large cichlids in and 3 were severums and i felt it wasnt big enough for them all at adult size.

looking at the water volume of yours i would guess its either a big 4ft or a small 5ft max so i would defo stick with smaller fish like firemouths, ellioti, aureus, rainbow, some of the smaller acaras etc etc.

we could really do with the tanks measurements to help any more as without them im just guessing......

Lol my tank is about 4.8 foot and over 3.5 foot , yep gonna have to try trial and error
