I was at a conference in Perth, Australia recently and had a brief chance to get down to an area that was tidal (Heirisson island). I didn't see much life and then had an "oh look, a snail!" moment (excuse the amount of junk in the photo - couldn't set anything down since it was mud all around).
And then I paid a bit closer attention to what I originally thought was gravel further down. Soooooo many Cerithiid snails waiting for the tide to come in.
I did wonder briefly how salty it actually was since the island is up river a bit, but I found some barnacles too so it must have still been fairly salty.
Not too much other marine life within easy view there, but thought I would share the abundance of snails.
