How do you get rid of this stuff in my goldfish tank i have got lots of it!
Is there a way to get rid of it?

How many hours a day do you leave your tank lights on? Is your tank next to a window? what size is your tank (gals or ltrs), how many fish are in it and how many plants?

Is your tank next to a window? yes but the curtains block out alot of the light
what size is your tank (gals or ltrs)? it is 55 gallons
how many fish are in it and how many plants? no plants, 8 fish in total

What type of goldfish are they? If they are single tail goldfish they need a pong outside. If they are fantails your overstocked anyway.

2 fancy tail, 3 small goldfish, 1 med goldfish, 1 blue platy and 1 siamese algae eater

The fantails are fine in that tank. The platy will prob get eaten when the fantails are adults plus platies are tropical not cold water. The other 4 goldfish..... can you get a picture of them please? The Siamese algae eater is tropical as well so would need it's own tank with a heater. I suggest that you take the Siamese algae eater and platy back to the fish store/ pet shop. We need to know what the other 4 goldfish are so can you please try to get that picture?

the platy has been in there around a year, and i got this tank of my auntie and the siamese algae eater has been in the tank at least 5 years, so ill see about moving him in my tropical tank.
Ill try get pictures of them.

I don't know much about the algae but:
These 2 fish plus any that look like them will need a pond outside or need to be re homed.

There are people on here that have ponds big enough that might take them if you put them in the classified section. You would need to put them as free to good home though.
You can keep both the fantails in that tank along with maybe 2 more if you wanted. You would need good filtration though because goldies make a big mess.
What fish do you have in your tropical fish tank?
How big is it?

Sorry for the questions but if your other fish are fine with it you could put both the siamese algae eater and the platy in your tropical tank.
