Big Male Midas Cichlid ... Video

Stunning mate, simply stunning, a wee word of warning, be careful with them large pebbles, my oscars and jag would through and push them around like toys, sometimes crashing into the glass, possibally smashing it, just wanted you to be aware,

Yes, I'd thought of that as a potential problem. However, I really like the effect of the pebbles. I'm going to be keeping a close eye on him ! He's not interested in them at all so far.

Just been looking on ac, found one free to collector in your area, the spit of Beefy, shame you couldnt have 2

Lol, as you're probably aware that IS my "Beef" up for rehoming. As he has settled in, he has become a real glassbanger, and is very aggressively territorial about the tank and it's environment. I am simply not enjoying that sort of interaction anywhere near as much as the interaction I have with Buster (my FH) who is still quite feisty, but not intent on ripping my head off every time I go anywhere near the tank. It's not the greedy inquisitiveness that I get from Buster, but just sheer aggression that Beef gives off.
I'm hoping to get Buster into the 500 litre, where Beef is at the moment. Then get another FH to grow on in the 300 litre, where Buster currently is.

I guess one lives and learns. I have never had a true "glass banger" before. I know a lot of folks just love fish like that before, but it's not for me.

Poor Hamfist, you seem to be having a bad run on "wet pet" candidates in the last couple of months!

Do you know if your old Texas and GT(?) settled in well to their new homes?

 Well I did say it was the spit of beefy  , I sat here for a while re-watching your video and looking at the pic on ac saying to myself "blimey they are identical" (ok another star4 blonde moment as Mark would say)

What a shame he has not worked out.

The answer is in Chops' fins... He needs to grow up, meet a foxy female Oscar and then reproduce fry of a similar genetic flaw trait!

OMG no way would I release the spawn of Chops on to the fish keeping community  Although saying that there are slight differences in body shape between Chops & Rusty, now if I could get them together :hey:

No contact with the new texas owner, but the GT is apparently very happy, and his new owner is looking for a girlfriend for him !
