Bad Forum

Not sure if this will stay but I need to vent my frustrations somewhere

Basicly a few weeks ago I stumbled across another fish forum, and I thought I would give it a go,
well within two posts I had already been graded with a karma of -2

the forum is just a perfect example of how things shouldn't be done,

I replied to a post from someone asking if a 42UKG would be ok for an Oscar only to be told by an experienced member of the forum that I was basicly wrong for saying no and that they could easily have two in there with tankmates because he has done it and has 40 years experience,

Another piece of my stocking advice was disregarded simply because in part of it I suggested having only 5 of a species of tetra,

also according to one of the main mods on there apparently all Rainbows max out at 2"

Those are just three small things that have contributed to winding me up, but I still feel the need to give the forum a chance even if i can just help a small minority

man thats pretty bad, Ive found a fair few forums that are strict but none that are as insane as that. Can you name and shame (or PM me with it )

You know where you're really wanted and appreciated. I haven't found a place quite like fish forums, unless you're wanting a forum that specialises in a particular breed, apisto, pleco etc. I bet they didn't have as many members as we do?

It's troubling that there a ppl that are new to the hobby and look to them for guidance and advice...

Hopefully they will have a good look around and find TFF to turn them back to the Lightside!

There are Rude People, on all forum sites including this one. You will be patronised, at the drop of a hat, the very second that someone has had a different experience from you. Take it on the chin and learn from it. Most of the time people are right. However the solution may not be right for you. Take their point, as more than probably their answer will raise questions in your head, and may inadvertently guide you in the right direction anyway.

The site you refer to my guess is *****. There is real Clique on there.

No they haven't as many members, and aren't anywhere near as active,

it is very amateurish in comparison tbh, they have the karma ratings, daily advertising click votes and i'm not even going to go into the forum headings

Yup.. This forum is great so many really helpful people that know there stuff. I am on another forum They are good people but not much traffic and they seem to really only care about African cichlids. oh well. They cant all be great. but there are a few other good ones I know of.

Wow I must have lucked out when I started looking for help because good old google spat this forum out at me top of the list lol. And I have to say you guys on here have been amazing and not once have I ever been made to feel bad for my amateur mistakes....i've felt thick but never bad

Yah, that's true when you say including this one. No disrespect intended. I sometimes get more advice than I asked for. Unfortunately some feel that their way is the only way and their replies aren't always nice or helpful. There has been a couple of incidences that I felt like I was being scolded or bullied.

Keep posting anyway, for the 10% of rude replies I'm sure you'll get 90% that are nice and helpful. As for me I really do appreciate those who are kind and informative.
